If you are a streamer or are interested in becoming one, you know that capturing the best moments of your game play is essential. Whether it’s a huge moment of victory, your reaction to losing a game or laughing at a funny interaction with your friends, capturing the best parts of your broadcast will help you grow your audience.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of times when you won’t have any viewers to capture those moments for you. Luckily, there are a few ways to record your own clips and highlight videos to share on Twitch. In this article, we will go over how to Get Twitch clips and the process of creating your own highlights.
Getting Twitch Clips
During a live broadcast, you can create clips of your video by pressing the “Clip” icon. The icon looks like a movie clapperboard and is located in the top right corner of the screen. This will create a short video of your gameplay that you can use in a YouTube video or post to your social media account.
If you want to see a specific clip, you can also search for it using the Get Clips API. This is possible if you have a valid OAuth user access token with the clips:edit scope. The resulting response from the Get Clips API will include the clip’s video id and vod offset. There may be a delay between when a clip is created during a broadcast and when the vod offset is determined.
If your broadcast is active, you can also create a video clip by clicking the “Clip” icon in the lower-right corner of your stream page. This will open a new window that lets you trim and save your video clip. The resulting clip will be automatically posted to your channel and you can embed it in your website or community pages.
You can also edit or delete a clip you have made by going to your Creator Dashboard and selecting the content tab on the left sidebar. In this menu, you can view all your clips, search for specific ones and filter them by type and category. You can also manage individual clips from here, including editing, reporting a problem or permanently deleting them.
You can also take your clip library and export it to a variety of other platforms including TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. These platforms are great for bringing in new viewers and helping you reach your streaming goals. The only drawback to this is that it can be a bit time-consuming to export your entire clip library and then re-upload them to the new platform. Thankfully, there is a tool called Clipsey that can do all the hard work for you. It is an online clip downloader that makes the process of grabbing Twitch clips and downloading them to your computer simple.
